believing in MAGIC

Jan 2, 2015

When I look back over this past year so many emotions come up. We had good and bad and scary. Honestly, it was a hard year. But we learned a lot and we've been blessed with some amazing things that have come our way. My word last year was intention and it was really wonderful to watch how my life unfolded when I lived with intention and not just day to day. When pregnancy and hyperemesis hit I stopped posting my intentions to the blog but I kept journaling them and sharing them with myself. Even though I didn't complete every intention I set, it was huge for me to see the way each of them developed. It made all the difference in the world. This year my word is...

magic.

I've thought a lot about this word the past few days. Picking a word is hard! But no matter what else I considered, I kept coming back to magic. It followed me around and insisted this was the year that I focus on finding the magic in my life. So that's what I'll be doing this year.

Aaron and I have two big plans for 2015. We're going to have our second child and become a little family of four (I say little because I come from a family of eight) and we're going to find a space to call our home. I'm excited for both of these endeavors and I hope the second comes before the first, though I'm not placing restrictions on myself. I've learned my lesson there.

I also have a few small intentions for the year (because intentions rock even if it's not your word for the year).
  • one family picture each month - I did this in 2014 and it was one of my favorite things I did. The progression of our family month to month is so fun, especially as I watch Everly change!
  • read at least 2 books each month - Last year I wanted to read 1 book a week and it got overwhelming pretty quickly. I got off track for a bit and then got back on course  a while later. It was a huge thing to undertake. But I love reading so I'm making the intention smaller but still relevant. Hopefully it helps!
  • have an outing with Everly once a week - This can be big like taking her to an amusement park for her first baby roller coaster (I'm excited to do that this summer!) or small, like a trip to the zoo or local park. At least once a week the two of us will leave the house to do something just for her. And in July we'll add a third wheel who will sleep while we play.
  • cook one new recipe each week - This might be my favorite intention for the year. I cannot express how much I love cooking and (not to brag too hard) I'm very good at it. I read far too many food blogs (if there's such a thing?) and pin amazing recipes all the time. I'm going to try at least one new recipe each week so my family and I can all enjoy the benefits of my cooking skills.
  • date night with Aaron - Is once a week to much to ask for a date night with my husband? I hope not, because I am. I want to go on a date with Aaron once a week, even if that date is a trip to the store without Everly in tow! We can grab some coffee and call it a romantic stroll.

Cheers to that wild, crazy, beautiful 2014 and lets bring on the MAGIC for 2015!

PS How adorable is that photo? Everly thought Christmas morning was the most amazing thing ever and all she wanted was to go play with her toys.

October Intentions

Oct 7, 2014

The first pic was July's. The second was in August, right before I left for Canada for 10 days. It feels like another lifetime. The last photo was September, we went to a high school football game. Everly thought it was the most fun ever.

August was crazy. My intention was to get through the month with my sanity and we almost didn't make it. September we fell into recovery mode and near then end I came out of it with more than just survival instincts. Life happens, right? But this month I've set intentions for myself again and it feels so good. And can you believe it? We've had 9 months of family photos. Yes, they're almost all iPhone photos, but still. Pictures. Of all three of us.

I've started a new online training course that has ignited a fire within me. As part of the course I've been tracking the moon across the sky and it's led to a place of curiosity and a desire to learn more. I'm so excited for the blood moon this week! I don't care that I have to be awake at an undesirable hour to see it and photograph it. I'm just ready to do it. Life has been intense and scary, but it's getting better. And I'm so grateful for this little family that I get to go through it all with!

October Intentions. I will...
  • Track a full moon cycle, observing my ebbs and flows and understanding a tiny piece of the universe just a little bit better.
  • Make our family's Halloween costumes. I started this tradition last year with our lions. This year is going to be even more fun. I love the idea of a group costume and until Everly is old enough to revolt, I'm going to make our costumes and have a great time doing so!
  • Complete my rebrand of my business. I finished my all-encompasing professional website a few months ago. I created my photography website. Now I'm working on my professional doula website. I've wanted to rebrand for a while. I've renamed by business Sacred Feathered Nest and I'm working with Amira to create a fantastic logo for it! I love it already, and I'm not even finished. This month I'm going to have that website beautiful and thriving.
  • Attend a small business training. I need this for myself. I have big ideas, beautiful plans, I just need the support of a mentoring group and a training to take the big jump to the next new thing! I'm going through Sacred Biz and I'm very excited for this.

I'm also going to create some projects with my sister, but that's more for fun than an intention. Hopefully they'll turn out great and then I can share them with you! I'm also going to watch my lady turn 20 months *sob* and try not to make a big deal about it. It's such a gift to watch her grow. She's learning new words and she talks all the time. But it's so bittersweet. She's amazing, she's brilliant, and she's growing so quickly. And last (but definitely not least), my lover is turning the big 2-9 this month. That's right friends, Aaron is entering the last year of his 20's and he's doing it handsomely. He's like great wine and cheese, only getting better with age! I am really looking forward to October.

What's Keeping You From Achieving Your Goals?

Jul 20, 2014

It's actually been about 10 days since I saw this post at Delightfully Tacky (one of my very favorite blogs) but it's stuck in my head and I want to write a response to it.

I feel that most of the time I'm pretty good at achieving my goals, or as I refer to them intentions. I try to follow my dreams. But I didn't always do that. The follow through part has been difficult in the past (and sometimes still is). The thing that really changed for me is having a baby. I talk about this a lot, but having a baby changed me in so many ways. I realized I wanted to be better because she deserves better. She deserves a mama who loves herself, takes care of herself, and follows her dreams. She deserves to have a happy, loving mom.

So to the question at hand... I think the biggest thing that keeps me from achieving my goals is a fear of failure. And it keeps me from setting some goals in the first place. That age old question "What would you do if you knew you would not fail?" sometimes haunts me. I have big, grand plans but I worry that others won't love them as much as I do. I worry that people won't understand and I'll realize I'm living in my own little world. I worry that no matter how hard I work or how much I put myself out there I won't see the result come back to me. I worry that I'll have a lack of abundance. And now with a daughter and a family to think of, it's a little more scary to take a big risk because I'm not the only one affected by it.

Starting my new website was a huge leap for me. I've thought of myself as a healer for a while now but I don't really say it out loud. Does it sound corny? Will people grill me on what that means? Will they judge me when I don't answer the way they want? Will they reject me because they think I'm a little bit crazy? It's tough to put myself out there in the way my heart tells me to. This is not the age of healers, this is the age of pretty clothes and fancy shoes and posting your best pictures on Instagram (guilty). And I love all of those things. But I love wholeness and healing and healthy living. I love good body image and really, I love myself. I love who I am and I'm trying so hard to let the world see the real me.

I'm taking a really amazing course right now through the Sacred Living Movement called I AM Sisterhood and one of the things we've discussed is what we would do if we knew we would not fail. This was mine.

If I knew I would not fail I would open a studio and it would have everything I love. I would teach yoga, Sacred Pregnancy, Beginnings, hold sisterhood circles, and dance lessons. I would practice healing modalities at my studio. I would have books and tea and treats. There would be cozy chairs and pillows and blankets. We would have an art studio where my husband could draw and my daughter could go a little crazy. There would be educational toys for kids and a whole space for my daughter to call her own. There would be massage and a space to meet with doula clients. It would be a place for healing, for learning, for love. Now that I have this space in mind I can envision it all and I'm going to make it a reality one day. I've started to draw up some rough sketches and a small business plan. It's in the very beginning stages of growing but I know that this is where I will end up and I am really looking forward to it. It may be slow, but nothing will keep me from achieving this goal.

June + July Intentions

Jul 3, 2014

Part of this should have been posted weeks ago. Life has been a bit crazy lately. I know it's always going to be that way but there are times that blogging falls to the side. So much has happened in the past few weeks and I find that I'm still processing feelings as they come. It's been a quiet time in some ways and an incredibly busy time in others. I've been reworking my business plans, expanding some things I do, withdrawing from others, and really figuring out what works for me, my family, and my future. It's been amazing.

I also feel like the month of June vanished before my eyes. My best friend Jess got married the second weekend in June and now it's July. Since that time I've been doula for 3 births (2 of them with no sleep at all), attended a 2-day Energy Healing Conference (SO interesting... perhaps my thoughts on that will come out a different day), and tried to make sense of this very chaotic life. Aaron has had a few job interviews and we think we're settling on something that's really going to work for him and our future. We're so excited about that.

I've started a healer's journal, began using herbs and oils for healing, and sought out specific trainings for myself to enhance my journey down this path. I created a brand new website for myself to have one spot to direct all my business through. It's exhausting after a while to keep up with several different places. It's streamlined now and I love it! I've also created several new websites for Sacred Pregnancy and began writing for the Sacred Pregnancy Blog. It's a wonderful whirlwind.

In August Everly and I will be heading on another trip, this time to Canada. We're going to a Sacred Pregnancy + Sacred Doula training retreat. I'm so looking forward to being Sacred Doula certified. It's a program that calls to my soul and I'm ready to answer. Every time I prepare for a birth I exhaust myself making plans and worrying about E when I'm gone, but when it's time to actually go and I get to help these amazing mamas birth their babies my heart is revitalized. This is exactly what I'm supposed to be doing.

And now, after a whole lot of rambling...

Our family photo for May. You've already seen this gem but it's perfect.

I picked my path in a sense... I've selected a few programs that I'm so excited about to become certified in things that are going to continue to guide my life. Shelly and I finished writing our e-course! Even though the lessons have begun to be posted, it's self-paced and can be joined at any time. We'd love to have more participants in this journey (sign up here!). The creating... it's been more on a personal level (my sisters ditched me and went on vacation) but it's been fantastic. Everly has recently discovered how much she loves coloring and we're making drawings daily!

The reading of one book per week hasn't worked out. I'm reading A LOT but it's not normal books that I would share here. It's lessons for courses I'm taking, it's notes on topics that are fascinating to me, it's magazines that have so much information and I'm devouring them. I obviously haven't been blogging every week either. Such is life! We're still managing one family photo each month (although June's is awkward!). And I'm definitely loving myself more and finding the things that make my soul happy. For a half-year account, this is looking wonderful.

Our June family photo... it's awkward. It was taken with my husband's cell phone and it shows! But we have a photo for the month and I'm pretty proud of that.

June Intentions. I will...
  • Attend the Energy Healing Conference and sign up two women for my upcoming Sacred Pregnancy 2-day Retreat. Originally my intention was one woman. Just one beautiful soul to join me for my retreat. After day one of the conference I'd achieved this so I extended it to one per day. By the end of day two I had my second woman sign up! To me, the conference was a success.
  • Finish my new website. I want a place to send all clients, no matter what they're looking for. It's beautiful! I love it. Seriously, check it out.

July Intentions. I will...
  • Explore the outdoors with Everly. She is a child of Mother Earth. There's nothing she loves more than being outside. Seeing my child's love for the outdoors has given me a new appreciation for it. We going to go on a few hikes, find a lake or two, and enjoy the beauty that nature has to offer us.
  • Find two more women to attend my Sacred Pregnancy 2-day Retreat. I want the beauty of sisterhood to be present at the retreat and I know there are a few more women out there looking for that in their lives. I will find them!
  • Embrace my reiki training. I'm going to be a reiki practitioner by the end of the month. My mother's day gift from Aaron and Everly was my training. I found the most wonderful woman who facilitates the training and I'm so excited to learn from her.

If you've made it to the end of this ramble you're amazing. Life is so beautiful and I'm loving every minute. Even the hard times are something to be thankful for. Without them I wouldn't know how good the good times are. This has been a wonderful year so far and I know the second half will be even better.

May Intentions

May 8, 2014

Oh May, you've surprised me with your arrival! April went by so quickly that I hardly had time to blink. I'm pretty sure I said the same thing about March... We managed two family pictures in a month though. Impressive, no? The top one Aaron's dad took while he was here visiting. It's awkward and I'm in my sweats and Everly is blinking because of the bright sunlight, and yet I love it. The one below counts as a family pic. E is sleeping but it's so sweet! We were at Comic Con in that picture and Aaron was dressed as Captain Hammer. It was the best costume. Everly was dressed as Super Girl. I was her chariot. Or something. Also I'm still stinking at reading one book per week. I'm currently working on The Shadow Prince by Bree Despain. She's a local Utah author and I've followed her since her first published book. I've met her a few times and I picked up her book at Comic Con (and of course had it signed!). It's really good so far but truth be told I'm not too far into it. I'll get there! I'm still posting on the blog (obviously). Some weeks are more than others. Some weeks I have more to say... some weeks I have more minutes to write. That's just the way it goes, right? But I keep on writing, mostly just for me. I am loving my soul work and definitely loving myself!

In April my intention was to slow down. I think I did it. I still had a full schedule and a full life but I really tried to slow it down and take moments each day to treasure this life. Everly grew right in front of my eyes and it was beautiful. I'm finding a wonderful balance between being a mom, a wife, a student, a doula, a web goddess (official title), a friend, a sister, and just being me. It's a work in progress but I'm loving the progress.

In May I will...
  • Pick my newest path. I'm researching a few amazing programs to further my education and become a healer or herbalist (because I'm not weird enough yet). I'm going to find my way with one of them and I'm really excited about it.
  • Finish our ecourse for June release! Shelly and I are so busy with it and I am SO excited to share this work with others. It's been amazing to write this course with my sister. I hope some of you will be joining us!
  • Create with my sisters. Vague I know. Let me explain. My sister Morgan has moved back for the summer before she embarks on her next life adventure and Shelly and I are loving this summer air. Cori will be spending most of the summer away but until she leaves we're all going to be creating together. I have a few very ambitious Pinterest projects that Morgan is motivating me to do. I think with the full force of all four sisters we'll get a few things done.

I'm keeping it simple again. I know these things seem inconsequential to some but this will be a full month for me. I'm pretty sure I say this every time, but it's going to be wonderful.

I love this beautiful life.

April Intentions

Apr 9, 2014

In March we double succeeded at taking a family pic! The first was on by birthday and the second was the day after. We found hats at Target that were too cute to just walk bay. Everly is starting to really like hats- for about 30 seconds. As for reading one book a week... I'm ashamed of myself. I haven't even come close. Maybe one book every two weeks? In my slightly pathetic defense I had no idea when I set that intention how busy my life was about to get. Also in my defense, I read to enjoy myself and not because I have to. If I have slightly less time to read I'm not going to stress. That being said- two of my BFF's got me books for my birthday (Elusion from Amber and Half Bad and Panic from Jess) and I'm taking all three of them with me when E and I go to Louisiana for our friend's wedding this week. Everly will probably not allow reading on the plane but I can dream!

I accomplished two out of three for my March Intentions. I painted! I pulled out my mom's easel that I bought her about six years ago and I painted a bunch of random watercolor pictures. I'm not very good. We'll leave it at that... But it was a lot of fun! I also celebrated Birthday Week and it went on for a full 10 days. I think that's a new record. There's nothing that makes you feel loved like people celebrating you, am I right? But I failed on my sugar detox. I want to try it again but I realized I need to do it when life isn't so chaotic. I've got SO much going on right now that feeding myself at all is an accomplishment. I didn't have the time or energy to detox. I did try it for a few days but it was not great. I'm okay with it though. The intention was there and it definitely got me thinking more about the foods I put into my body. It's a step in the right direction!

March was amazing but so very busy. I can't believe it's over already! And today being the 9th of April... that's just unreal to me. And so I'm only setting one intention for April, because it's all I need right now.

  • I will SLOW DOWN. The amount of work I have isn't going to go away but Aaron and I are figuring it out so I have set work times to focus and get things done quickly. This leaves me a lot more time to spend with him and Everly and in turn makes all of us happier. Of course there's always the occasional interrupt to that plan but for the most part I'm going to take a breath and step away from my computer intentionally each day. I love love love my work and I'm so lucky to have it in my life but this past month has shown me that if I don't stop and take a breath I'm going to burn myself out.

As it works out, we've got two fun events planned for April that will help with the slowing down and spending time doing things I love! This week Everly and I are headed to Louisiana (as I mentioned earlier). I'm a bridesmaid and she's a flower girl although there's a bet going on if she'll actually walk down the isle. I'm guessing not since she doesn't like large groups of strangers, especially when they all look at her. She'll be adorable in her dress either way!

The other thing that we're eagerly anticipating is Aaron's dad coming to visit. We haven't seen his parents since last June when we moved back from Japan! Sadly his mom is stuck with work but the Salt Lake Comic Con FanX is next week and we talked him into coming out for it. We're going to pack up the tiny lady in the Ergo and brave the masses. We went to Comic Con in September (the first one in SLC) with Everly in tow and it was crazy fun. We're SO excited that Chris is coming out to visit. Everly loves her grandparents so much and it's going to be so fun to get them together again.

Basically this month is going to be awesome. And probably over before I can blink.

March Intentions

Mar 14, 2014

So back at the beginning of February I took this picture and I said to myself it would NOT be my family pic for the month. And it totally was. Because taking a family picture is hard! I'm falling behind on my one book per week goal but I am determined to keep up. Last week I only blogged once but overall I've been keeping up on that one. I'm determined not to fall too far behind or get too far off with the things that I love! I keep hearing about these blogging schedules and I think man, I should do one of those... as I get distracted by the 15 other tabs open on my web browser. Aaron can't watch me work. He says it gives him a headache trying to follow me as I jump around. My brain follows it well though!

I managed to fulfill all of my February Intentions. I've met with several potential clients over the past two weeks. It's been so fun to meet new ladies and couples and hear all about their pregnancy experiences and birth wishes. I'm a birth junkie. I admit it. I went to the gym regularly (except the week I was in Cali) and it always felt good. I like to reward myself for going to the gym by ending my workout in the massage chairs. I know how to take care of myself. And I went to my Sacred Pregnancy Retreat in California. Wow, what a beautiful experience. I've been writing a post about it but I can't share it yet. It was such a deeply personal and life changing experience that I want to be sure to say it all right. It's one of those things that really matters to me.

On to March (yes, I know it's halfway done but I wrote these a while ago and haven't shared them yet!)...
  • I will paint... or draw, or color, or something. I want to be an artist. I tell myself I am one and even if I'm not the greatest one out there who cares? I've always wanted to call myself an artist. If I make art then I am one, right?
  • I will detox. I'm participating in a sugar detox at the end of the month. A dear friend of mine is hosting it and I'm actually really excited about it. She's creating the whole program to include new recipes and good yummy food. If you want to join me I'll put you in touch with her. It's going to be wonderful!
  • I will celebrate Birthday Week with the people I love. I've been away from most of my family and friends for my last two birthdays and it's been hard for me. Aaron is amazing but I cannot expect him to be my everything. Last year my birthday was especially hard because my mom had just left Japan, Aaron had just gone back to work, and I was suddenly home alone with a new baby. This year I'm going to really take advantage of being close to so many people I love and celebrate every single day for a week. Birthdays are a really big deal in this family!

February was really a fantastic month. Aaron got some great job leads, we celebrated Everly's first birthday, and I took giant leaps forward with my birth business. I've become more immersed in everything that I love doing and it's been wonderful. I feel so lucky to have the wonderful life that I do. I am so grateful for it. For my Aaron, my Everly, my family, my friends. I am so lucky to call them mine.

February Intentions

Feb 3, 2014

I'm not really sure how to do these intentions posts. Do I recap last month? Is that boring for everyone but me? Probably but I suppose I'll do it anyway because it holds me accountable. Also this is my blog and my record of our life so I can do what I want, right? One of my 2014 intentions for the year was to take a family picture every month and here is January. It's taken in bad light with an iPhone but we got a picture of the three of us together. That's quite rare.

The other 2014 intentions I've made progress on are writing on the blog 2-3 times a week (did it for January!) and read 1 book a week. For the four weeks in January (I didn't count that tiny partial week) I read Allegiant by Veronica Roth, Pandemonium by Lauren Oliver, Requiem by Lauren Oliver, and The Interestings by Meg Wolitzer. The first two were good, the third was okay, the fourth was fantastic. If you're looking for a recommendation read that one! And as for finding happiness and loving myself, I've definitely been doing some of that. I'll write more about it a different day though.

For my January only intentions I did pretty well. I don't remember exactly how often I painted my nails but I do know I had nail polish on them every single day (though some many days it was chipped). I wanted to go to the gym with Aaron at least three times a week. I went five to six times a week on my own and Aaron joined me about half the time. So I think I can count that one as finished. And my birth clients, oh my sweet pregnant mamas. I don't officially have any new clients but I've got meetings or phone interviews set up to chat with a few ladies who are looking for a doula. It's been slow starting but I'm dedicated more now than ever and I will do this.

As for February intentions...
  • I will continue to grow my doula business and search for women to connect with.
  • I will go to California for a Sacred Pregnancy retreat so I have something new to offer my birth clients.
  • I will continue going to the gym and loving my body.

Simple and sweet, just the way I like them. Also, I will not cry (too much) when my baby turns one. If you made goals/resolutions/intentions how are you doing on them? They're hard to keep up with some days!

Falling In Love With Myself

Jan 3, 2014

This year I am going to fall in love with myself. I wrote a bit about it in my post about intentional living, but I want to share more. Self love. It's a difficult topic. People seem to confuse loving yourself with being conceited or self involved. But I don't believe I can be a great mother to my Everly without loving myself. She deserves a mama who loves herself and teaches her to do the same. Everything I do now is motivated by Everly in one way or another. I want to be a better mother, a better wife,  a better person because she deserves better from me. Always. I want to teach Everly that she is absolutely perfect and teach her to love herself. I believe the best way to teach anything is by example. It's becoming more and more important for me to love myself.

There are a lot of things I like about me. There are also things I don't like and that's what I'm going to be working on this year. Every time I look in the mirror I see a flaw. I want to work on turning my flaws into strengths and accepting my imperfect body and soul as they are. If there's something I cannot accept I will change it. It will be an ongoing love affair.

The past year over at Alex's blog she's been writing all about self love and it's been inspiring. Every time I read one of her self love posts I find myself nodding along with her writing. I may not be just like her or going through the same experiences, but the lessons she learning are universal. Alex said "I am okay with embracing all parts of me now. I embraced for the first time this year, my bravery, my creativity, my strong will to survive (more on that in a minute) my sense of humor, my ability to be a good friend, my questionable fashion sense, my impeccable ability to bake desserts, and my way with words. I also embraced the fact that I'm completely negative, I'm a bitch, I despise spending time with people, I despise people, I feel that I have to answer to no one in this life, I'm incredibly difficult sometimes, I'm neurotic, and want nothing to do with the majority of people whose paths I cross. I'm fine with all this! Yay go me self esteem blah blah honesty blah."

Today I'm embracing myself as this imperfect woman, imperfect wife, imperfect mother. Sister, daughter, friend, confidant. I am all of these things, imperfectly. I love that about myself. Perfection is boring. I am a flawed individual. But I am strong and smart and curious and above all I have a good heart, a good soul. I have blossomed from the girl I used to be into the woman that I am. The right words often escape me in describing how deep my feelings run. This is hugely personal to me. When I look at the photo above I can easily pick out flaws. They practically leap of the screen. Today I choose to pick out the strengths. The bags under my eyes are not those of a sleep deprived woman, but those of a mother who loves her daughter so deeply that she stayed up half the night rocking, nursing, and comforting her to allow her to get some sleep. My Everly is young. She will not need me forever. But she needs me now and I am everything for her. The woman in this photo is strong. She is brave. She is vulnerable. And she's a mother who loves fiercely.

Living Intentionally

Jan 1, 2014

I've never liked the word resolution. It makes me feel like I'm not a good enough person and I have to make improvements on myself. While this may be true (I know it is) I don't enjoy the word that's plagued every January of my existence, reminding me that I'm not good enough. The past year has been exhilarating and exhausting. I'm ready to start again. This year I'm doing something a little different. I'm giving myself a word to live by. My word for this year is simple, but it resonates deeply with me.

intention.

I'm going to live with intention. I'm going month to month, week to week, day to day. I'm taking it a few steps at a time. I'm not going to overwhelm myself with the five year or ten year plan, or even the one year plan, just an idea of where I want to grow this year. So many days I feel as though life just passes me by. Day to day nothing seems to change, but when I look back over the months and years everything is different. I want to change that. Especially as I watch Everly grow and change. Her life will not just pass us by

I'll be documenting my intentional living on my blog because it's important to me and I want to share that. There are a few things that are very personal and I haven't decided if they'll pop up here or not. Either way, this is going to be a beautiful year. I want to share my intentions for the year, and just for January. They become more real to me when I commit here. Most are pretty simple and I'm okay with that. It's the little things in life, right?

In 2014...
  1. I will read at least one book a week. I have no excuse, except I had a baby and now there never seem to be enough hours in the day. Over winter break my family has been around more, including Aaron, and I've had some extra help with Everly. I've used that time to read a few great books and my goodness, I love reading. I always have. I'm making time for it again. I'm also trying to find a local book club.
  2. I will post on my blog 2-3 times a week. I'm already pretty good at this but I'm falling in love with blogging again and I want to keep it alive.
  3. I (we) will take a family picture every month. It's pretty self explanatory, but I want more pictures of all three of us. We did pretty well taking them this year but they were sporadic.
  4. I will search for things that make my soul happy. I'm on a journey to finding myself. I don't think I'll ever reach the destination because I'll never be ready to settle. Each destination will breed a new journey. I'm a soulful and complex person, and I'm enjoying every second of this life. I'm awakening new talents and passions and learning to share more of myself with the people I love. There's nothing I would rather do than make the world around me a better and more beautiful place.
  5. I will fall in love with myself. That's all I want to say on the matter because I'm writing a beautiful and in depth post about self love that will come in a few days. I hope you love to read it as much as I've loved writing it.

In January...
  1. I will paint my nails once a week. And take off old/chipped polish. Don't laugh. I'm the worst at both of these. And I feel prettier with painted nails. That's all.
  2. I will go to the gym with Aaron 3 times a week. We're giving ourselves a month of gym time  for a new years present to's see if we like this new place that opened up. And we're going to go. This is another thing that's soft of fallen to the side since E was born but I always feel better about myself when I work out. And I want to feel good about myself.
  3. I will have three new birth clients. I am intoxicated by my work as a doula and I'm going to push myself harder and farther to do more good. It is amazing to be a part of the birth world and watch strong, powerful women give birth to our future. Women are spectacular.

Tell me friends, what are some of your goals/resolutions/intentions for 2014? Leave me links to your posts in the comments. I'd love to visit and read them!
